My Dear Sister,

Well, Lizzie, as have not got over being lonesome since I was down there, I thought I would write you a few lines and see if it would relieve me.  You know I don’t have any chance but of course you would not forgive me but maybe you will know some day.

I wish you was here and me talking to you instead of writing.  I think of you so often and such a change since last summer.  This time you seem so different.  Almost like a stranger to me.  I suppose you are not so to everybody but that is all right what is to be will be.  I expected you every week since you was here but did not come.  I will ask you once more to come up and stay a couple of weeks and take a rest and not be niggering all the time.  It seems you never had a minute for yourself since you got married.  If you come bring that nightdress that was not made.  I have the patterns up here and we will make it while you are here, if you stay long enough.

July 13, Almost a week since I started this letter and don’t know when I can finish it.  Pa was here yesterday and told me how you all were getting along.  Irene is bothering me so I can’t hardly write.  Kate sent me one of Bertha’s pictures.  Think they are very nice.  She is so cute. What do you think of Jules girl?  Suppose you saw it Sunday as they had it Baptized.  How is everybody down there, especially yourself and Will.  Suppose you are working nights now as this is the time of year when the Poor Farmers has to sweat, but they are all right.  Have you got your canning done?  I sent your can down with Pa.  Wish I had something to put in it.

Julia Sullivan was here today.  She sent Bertha a Jacket by mail. I didn’t see it.  How did you like Jules baby’s hood?  I will write to Sadie soon as I can.  Think I will go down when the raspberries are ripe, if they let be know.  Why don’t you all come up some Sunday.  Guess I will close as news is scarce.  I don’t go anywhere to find out any.  Will close with love to all,

Mary, Write soon

Jess Toogood was here today.  He has quite a time with his hand.  Jim Malone was here last night.  He looks good.  Guess we will go down town tomorrow night, Saturday to take in the lights.  Will go to the Lake Sunday if nothing happens.  Was down on Canal St this afternoon.  Anne J & Pennie went to Berlin for a week.  Lizzie Hughes went to Croton this week.   Well this is the latest news.  Hope you will come up soon.

Mary, Write soon

P.S. Frank is well and sends his best.  Hope you will get this for I had such a time trying to write.
