Miss Lizzie Golden,

Dennison, Mich.,

Dear Friend:-

Just a few lines to ask you a few questions about school.  Will you please make out a report of my last years work.  Mr Nolland, the principal of the high school said he would let me start in without taking an examination if I got the report of my last years work from you.

Please send the report to me as soon as possible.  And let him know if you think I can enter the 8 – 2 Grade.  I only have three studies.  Grammar, Arithmetic & History.

How are all the folks down there?  Does fosie go to school?  Have you any new scholars this year?  How is Nora and Sadie getting along.  I wish you was going to be my teacher up here.  My teacher’s name is Miss Daniels.

Please excuse poor writing as I am holding this on my lap.  I haven’t any desk.  I am so tired to-night I have went to school two days.  I will close for this time hoping to hear from you soon.

Winnie E. Griswold
