Letter: one page both sides

Paper: Lined paper, 7-7/8” wide by 9-5/8” high

The top of the page has a number 2 written on it.  This looks like this is the second page of a two page letter.  In fact, I believe it is the missing page of the letter George Brown wrote to Lizzie on May 14, 1893

Did you go to the social at Berlin Friday night?  I noticed in the Observer that they had another.  Also that Spring Lake had a $50,000 fine.  I am awful glad it was not Dennison that suffered that way for all that would be left would be that pile of sawdust on the south side.

The Coopersville graduating class is becoming quite famous aren’t they?  Names in about every issue.

Did you see those young relation of mine when they were out?  Is that boy as homely as he used to be?

Eight of us had some pictures taken this forenoon in a group.  You can imagine what kind of a lot we were when I tell you that we broke the glass the first time.  One of the others was a young man from Kent Co. named Martin Carrady who says that he is acquainted with the McCarty’s at Dennison.  He is the first person from near home that I have met here.

Do Lizzie and John live at the old homestead and help to milk cows or have they gone on a twenty-four mile wedding tour like my brother Charley?

How does Mary get along with her Irishmen?  Mary ought to make a good teacher.  She has plenty of Irish wit about her.

I was pleased to hear when Miss G was elected Com. of course and think she will make a first class officer.

I wish that I was at home during the Institute.  I never attended but one and that one was like a wild west show.  You know teachers are not very retiring when they get away from their pupils.

Well Lizzie, this is all the sense and nonsense that I can think of so I must (to your great delight) close.

Hoping to hear from you in the near future, I am your friend

George
