Along Brandy Creek

Deer Creek, Brandy Creek, Crockery Creek and every other water way, large and small, came to life more than ever over the past few days.  After a relatively dry summer, five inches of precipitation wet down the land a good one this time around.  The soft gentle drizzle seemed not at all willing to give up once the showers started coming down.  If you didn't have your corn in, or your soybeans taken off the field, it sure made you feel uneasy after about the third day of it.

The term, "under the weather," well describes the feeling one might have.  The days and nights of continual dampness hanging in the gloomy air tends to cloud a persons mind some.  It could even make you a bit on the grumpy side, just at the thought of getting out of bed on those much darker than usual November mornings.  All that work left undone in the fields, what ever happened to the stuff called sunshine?

And then, just like that it was over.  The streams ran full for a few more days.  The sun did show itself again with not a cloud in the sky.  The puddles and ponds settled into the earth.  The moon came out bright and clear on frosty nights.  Before you knew it, the combines and chisel plows were on the move again across the land.  The harvest and field work would soon be finished, this time for sure.  The weather lady says no more rain in sight.
