A small group of wild turkeys forage among the corn stubble over on the "West Forty".  In the distance they appear and disappear as black dots arranging and rearranging themselves into no particular order.  The faint sound of violin music comes and goes on the almost still mid-afternoon air.

Young Will, over on the neighboring farm, strings a collection of favorite tunes out through his bedroom windows each day after school.  His performance with the violin is much more predictable than the appearance of the glossy black cornfield birds.  Their dark forms punctuate the spaces between corn rows, much like the notes between lines on the pages of music from which the boy plays.

Frosty nights and sunny days emphasize an "Indian Summer" that surly will be short lived.  Brilliant autumn colors will soon give way to the browns and grays of late fall, a hint of the coming winter season not far off.  The hens and gobblers have it easy for a time - won't be so in a month or two!  And the music of Will, will go on; but, behind closed windows to keep out the cold.
