Miss Lizzie Golden

I received your welcome letter Thursday.  Was glad to hear from you.  I thought I would answer it today so you would get it before you went home.  I suppose you are enjoying school.  I think I should if I were there.

I presume you are making extensive preparations for the Holidays.  I guess I won’t be home till New Years if nothing happens.  You know I said that last year about this time and I was there about as soon as the letter.  I would come Christmas but I want to be at the N.Y. dance if it is so I can.  I will get a rig and come after you if you are at home.  (that is if you have no other arrangements made)  Write me before New Years and let me know.

We are having the loveliest weather here now I ever saw.  It is just like spring.  Has Kate got back yet?  Is Mary staying in town!  It seems like an age since I saw you.  I will count the days till New Years.  I was out to a dance last Thursday night.  The first one on the Heights.  Had a great time.  There was twelve girls there and about forty boys but I had my share of the dancing.  You can bet on that.  I was the only boy there that danced any round dances.

I think I can enjoy the New Years about as well if I have good luck.  Please write soon and let me know where you will be New Years, etc.  And if I can’t do my part I will try and let you know beforehand.  I don’t know as you can read this scribbling I don’t have practice enough to keep my hand in.  Hoping to hear from you soon.

I am Very Affectionately Yours,

Lester Mills
