Miss Lizzie Golden

Berlin

Mich.

My Very Dear Friend, I received your welcome letter last Wednesday evening and will now try and answer it.  I didn’t get around to write before. I suppose your school was out two weeks ago.  That was why I diverted my last to Dennison.

How are you making it anyway?  I would have liked very much to see you last Sunday.  I didn’t go anywhere at all.  I was sorry I had to come back so soon but we are awful busy here at present so I couldn’t get away any longer.  I don’t know when I can come again but I hope before long it is terrible lonesome here.  I haven’t been out anywhere in a long time.  I haven’t got ambition enough to change my clothes and go down town even.

I suppose you will soon be teaching now and pulling the kids hair.  I would like to be where I could come and call on you after you get started nicely.

My Uncle Marsh Mills and Blanche were up to the shop to see me last Wednesday afternoon.  They found me in the varnish all over.  I was awful glad to see them as you may imagine.  It was the first time any of my relatives or particular friends have been to see me since I have been in Muskegon but I hope it won’t be the last time.

Well, Lizzie, I can’t think of much to write but perhaps if I could see you I might think of something to say but I don’t know when that will be so I will say Good By for this time and close up hoping to hear from you soon.

I am as ever your affectionate friend

Lester Mills
