My Dearest Friend:

It being Sunday morning, I thought I would answer your letter of 5th.  I was very glad to hear from you and to hear you had such a good time to the fair and ball.  I was very sorry I couldn’t be there but I presume you enjoyed it all the more.  You say you aren’t going to school yet.  I supposed you were going all the time.  Has Kate gone east yet?  How long is she going to stay?  When did Albert get back?  I was surprised to hear of his return.  He told me he wouldn’t be back for a year.

Anyway, I suppose he hangs out at the same old place.  Are you and Mary going to stay up town while Kate is gone?  I suppose you will have to keep up the trade.  If you do, you wont have any time to go to school. I am going up and sit for some photographs pretty soon.

Lizzie, I can’t think of any more to say this morning so I will say Good By.  It is two early in the morning to write.  I just came from breakfast hoping to get an early answer.  I remain as ever your sincere friend.
