Did you treat or did Griswold treat you?

A

I treated him.  I asked him to go in and have a glass of beer with me.

Did you see anyone else drink anything while you were in the saloon?

A

Yes, sir.

What was drunk that you know of?

A

Well my brother and this traveling man, I know the traveling man drank whiskey and I don’t know whether my brother did or not I think he did.

That is all the drinks that you saw drank there that day?

A

No, I saw the Frenchman and this man that the bartender said was Shimmel, they came up and had a drink at the bar.

You say the Frenchman was treating Shimmel was he?

A

Yes, sir.

Do you know what they drank?

A

No, I couldn’t say for sure.

How long did you say you were in the saloon there?

A

Oh probably fifteen minutes.

Probably fifteen minutes.  Without looking at your watch could you tell what time of day it is now?

A

Well I couldn’t just exactly.  I should call it about half past two.

Well it is seventeen minutes to three.
